Take into consideraton what one of the purposes of the 1904 World's Fair, the ability for vendors to show off their wears and promote their company and the products that it made. Commerce. Advertising has been around for a long time, and since I work in the advertising industry I hope it continues long into the future, be it traditional or electronic. Companies participated in the worlds fair for many reasons, but the most important one was to expose as many people to the products, services and ideals that the company stood for or produced.

Advertising collectibles run the gamot. Any item that a company could put it's name on; it did. Trays were made in many different materials such as tin, aluminum, base metal, risque and silverplate. The above tray was given to me by wife Diane on the occasion of my birthday, last May. It measures 3" x 4.5" and is multicolored litho on tin. It pictures the "Festival Hall and Cascade Gardens", the main picture of the 1904 World's Fair. It also bears the imprint of "Berlin Mercantile Co. The Big Department Store"
