Nevada State Building
Here was a small bungalow with flowers in every window and its pretty rooms
were stuffed with sofa pillows -- Nevada's cozy headquarters at the World's
Fair. It was not too small to limit the welcome extended to guests, but
it would have been crowded if all of the States resources were displayed.
The entrance, to the reception room, was through the double door opening
on the shady porch where walls covered with pictures, a polished floor spread
with rugs, and plenty of house-plants greeted the visitor. Beyond this there
was an Oriental den in one corner and the office of the commissioner in
the other. A stairway lead to the second floor were living quarters were
provided for the occupants. The rooms in the front lead to an open veranda,
extending the full length of the building, were all manner of vines and
flowers twined and blossomed. Photographs of beautiful scenes typical of
Nevada, views of mining industries and illustrations of irrigations systems
were displayed on the walls and in albums. Nevada's state building was among
good company near the States of Rhode Island,
Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
It's building stood on Colonial avenue, between the Mining Gulch and Commonwealth
boulevard.
